Accessibility

Page One Insights LLC wants everyone to be able to find a local business on Page One Partner, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

Standard we build to

Page One Partner is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. Pages are checked against that standard when they are built and again when they change, using automated tools and keyboard-only and screen-reader walkthroughs.

What is in place

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link at the top.
  • Text and controls meet the AA contrast ratio against their backgrounds, in the light and dark color schemes.
  • Headings, landmarks and lists are marked up so screen readers can move through a page by structure.
  • Search, filters and forms have visible labels, described errors, and no time limits.
  • Icons carry text alternatives or are hidden from assistive technology when decorative; listing photos carry the business name as their description.
  • Animations respect the "reduce motion" setting, and nothing flashes.
  • Pages work at 200% zoom and on small screens without horizontal scrolling, and touch targets are at least 44 pixels.

Known limitations

  • Business photos are mirrored from each company's Google profile, so their descriptions state the business name rather than what is pictured.
  • The interactive state map has a list equivalent (choose a state from the menu below it) for anyone who cannot use the map.
  • Linked third-party sites — a business's own website or its Google profile — are outside our control.
